Seaton has a vast area of rare and beautiful wetland. 
From the bird-hide many unusual waders and coastal birds can be watched.

 
In Beer Road Seaton, an eco house has been built
by Rob and Lesley Watson.  It uses minimal heating, eco insulation, solar, passive solar and also has a natural roof
and driveway.
 
Creating electric bikes takes thought but make life easier! 
 
As well as the forthcoming regeneration proposed for Seaton, groups have been working on alternative  environmental concepts and experimenting with designs. This one by Seaton Development Trust encorporates tidal turbines.
 
The ethical motto of the school is "Caring now for the future". This is an important driving force.
The school reached the final of the national Ashden Awards for Renewable Energy in 2007 and has since won a national sustainable school buildings award.
They have wind, solar PV and solar water heating and an enery policy and three year plan which is monitored by the governors. They have children as "energy agents" in each class. (see useful resourses page to check out the monitoring)
 
A frequent sight in Seaton are the growing number of motorised bicycles - which have a small engine to assist with undulating terrain.  Here two were spotted outside the Town Hall just before Christmas.

 
The harbour mouth is narrow and requires skillful navigation but twice daily reminds residents of the power of the sea.  Sustainable Living and Environment Group have been exploring the possibility of harnessing this power.
